We hate giving bad news...

But your 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee seat is broken. Below the cushion lies the problem: the mounting brackets were designed for fuel efficiency instead of strength. I know because it happened to me a year ago. It started with a clicking sound then started rocking. Eventually my jeep was undriveable because the seat was barely attached to the floor.
